Compared with traditional heating methods, carbon fiber infrared heating tubes have the advantages of precision, efficiency, and energy saving. When used with silicon-controlled rectifiers and temperature controllers, they can achieve precise temperature control. They play an important role in the heating, insulation, and drying processes in industrial manufacturing and are irreplaceable in fields such as food, agricultural product processing, semiconductors, aerospace, automotive, new energy, rubber and plastics, glass, and printing. Carbon fiber heating tubes are gradually replacing traditional combustion and resistance wire heating methods, and in the future of the electric heating industry, carbon fiber will become an irreplaceable heating tube material.
In previous articles, we introduced various aspects of carbon fiber infrared heating tubes. Today, we will discuss the different lead-out methods for carbon fiber infrared quartz heating tubes.
I. Lead-Out Methods for Carbon Fiber Infrared Heating Tubes
- Single Tube Heating Tubes
The lead-out methods for single tube heating tubes include single-ended leads and double-ended leads. Double-ended leads can be further divided into vertical and horizontal lead-out methods:- Single-Ended Leads: The two ends of the resistance wire are connected to form a circuit, with the lead wire extending from one end.
- Vertical Lead-Out Method: This method usually uses a square ceramic head, but it is not fixedly paired with the square head. A new type of head combines the advantages of both square and round heads, and it uses a horizontal lead-out method.
- Horizontal Lead-Out Method: This method is generally paired with round heads, which come in large and small sizes.
- Double Tube Heating Tubes
The lead-out methods for double tube heating tubes are more diverse than those for single tubes, but they mainly fall into two categories: single-ended leads and double-ended leads.- Double-Ended Leads: In this method, both ends of the tube have lead wires connected to the power supply, while in single-ended tubes, the filament is connected at one end to form a closed circuit.
II. Pros and Cons of Single-Ended and Double-Ended Lead-Out Methods
- Double-Ended Leads: Tubes with double-ended leads can be made with higher power, and the two filaments can have different power ratings. This method is ideal for customers with high precision heating requirements.
- Single-Ended Leads: Tubes with single-ended leads are more convenient when connecting to the power supply and control systems, making the replacement and maintenance of the tubes easier.
III. How to Select the Lead Wires for Heating Tubes? Choosing the Right Leads for Carbon Fiber Heating Tubes
The lead wire is an essential part of connecting the heating tube to the power source. There are various types of lead wires, with different choices for different fields and temperature ranges. When selecting lead wires, two main factors need to be considered: the lead wire specifications and the temperature resistance requirements.
Our company’s heating tubes are equipped with two types of wires based on temperature resistance levels:
- Below 200°C: Standard high-temperature-resistant wires, 30 cm in length.
- Above 200°C: Mica high-temperature-resistant wires are used.
For currents below 4.5A, a 1.0mm wire is used, and for currents between 4.5A and 9A, a 1.5mm wire is used. Generally, the higher the power, the thicker the lead wire required. For example, a 1mm lead wire can handle up to 1200W. If the wire comes into direct contact with a metal plate, an additional layer of high-temperature glass fiber braided sleeving is required.
- Silicone Wires: These wires are relatively soft and widely used in various carbon fiber heating tubes. They can withstand temperatures up to 200°C.
- Fire-Resistant Wires: Made of pure nickel, these wires are harder than silicone wires and are more commonly used in medium-wave tubes, with a temperature resistance between 500°C and 800°C.
The material and temperature resistance of high-temperature-resistant wires vary, and so do their prices. When selecting wires, it is not necessary to always choose the most expensive option. Instead, the selection should be based on the actual working environment, power, and temperature requirements. For example, a carbon fiber heating tube with a voltage of 220V and a power of 1000W operating in an environment with a temperature of 150°C can use a 0.75mm standard silicone wire, which is sufficient for the task.
