Handle with Care During Transportation and Installation
Due to the material and structure, the quartz tubes and internal filaments of infrared heating elements may break under significant vibration. It is crucial to avoid heavy vibration and compression when moving and stacking these elements to prevent damage from external forces.
Use Both Hands for Handling
Avoid picking up an infrared heating element by one end with one hand, as the end of the quartz tube (especially the pressure-sealed end) can easily break due to bending forces.
Wear Gloves During Installation
It is advisable to wear soft cotton gloves when picking up and installing the elements. This not only prevents oil and sweat from contaminating the element, affecting the heating efficiency, but also protects hands from cuts in case the element breaks during installation.
Avoid Rigid Fixation; Leave a Gap
Avoid rigidly fixing the quartz tube heating element body or the ceramic ends. Although the thermal expansion of the element is minimal, the tube may deform or twist during heating. Rigid fixation could cause damage. Ensure there is enough gap between the ceramic ends of the element and the supporting equipment, ideally 1-3mm around.
Maintain a Tilt Angle of Less Than 30 Degrees for Horizontal Installation
When installing the heating element horizontally, keep the tilt angle within 30 degrees to ensure safety during heating. Contact our product department for any special requirements for inclined or vertical installations.
Careful Installation of Lead Wires, Ensure Insulation for Safety
When installing the heating element’s power lead wires, cover them with high-temperature resistant insulating ceramic sleeves or fiberglass tubes. The connection should be outside the insulation layer to avoid contact with corrosive or explosive materials and water, which could pose a risk of electric shock. Ensure that the leads can withstand the temperature and thermal load of the connection area for an extended period. Tighten terminal screws carefully to avoid over-tightening.
Use Reflectors for Efficient Radiation
It is recommended to use aluminum or stainless steel reflectors, either flat or parabolic, with the parabolic reflectors providing the best performance and higher radiation efficiency.
Position Ceramic Ends in Cooler Zones; Regularly Remove Deposits
Position the ceramic ends of the heating element in cooler zones (not exceeding approximately 300°C) to extend the life of the infrared heating elements. After prolonged use, if thick deposits accumulate on the element surface, they should be regularly cleaned to prevent reduced heat transfer efficiency and damage due to excessive surface heat load.
Maintain Proper Distance for Even Heat Distribution
The optimal distance between the heating elements and the object being heated is 100 to 400mm, depending on the condition of the object to ensure even heat distribution.
Cold Start Characteristics; Select Control Equipment Carefully
Infrared heating elements can be used with thermostats, thyristor power controllers, and voltage regulators to form an automatic temperature control system. Due to the high startup current of the heating element when cold (lasting a short time), consider this characteristic when selecting temperature control equipment.
Avoid Direct Viewing of High-Intensity Light
Some specifications of infrared heating elements emit strong visible light during operation. Do not look directly at these with the naked eye to avoid eye injury.
Store in a Dry Warehouse to Prevent Moisture Damage
Store the heating elements in a dry warehouse. If the surface becomes moist due to long-term storage, measure the insulation resistance with a megohm meter before use. If less than 1 megaohm per 500 volts, dry the elements in a 200-degree oven or reduce the voltage and heat until the insulation resistance is restored.
