Quartz Carbon Fiber Heating Tubes – Benefits and Uses

Kynning

With the maturation of carbon fiber production technology, carbon fiber has been widely developed into various heating elements as a new material. It is used in various heaters, heating equipment, and health equipment due to its superior electric heating performance, high energy-saving, environmental protection, and far-infrared radiation properties. As a result, it is receiving more and more attention and usage.

Carbon Fiber

Carbon fiber is a high-strength, high-modulus fiber made from polyacrylonitrile fibers, viscose fibers, or pitch fibers as raw materials, by removing other elements except carbon through high-temperature vacuum heating. It has high chemical stability and high-temperature resistance. Among them, viscose-based carbon fibers produced from wood pulp and cotton pulp have good conductivity and softness, making them suitable for manufacturing various heating elements. By the 21st century, scientific experts unanimously believe that carbon fiber heating elements replacing metal heating elements will become an inevitable trend.

Carbon Fiber Heating Tubes

Taking infrared quartz carbon fiber heating tubes as an example, the product structure involves winding carbon fiber filaments, curing them, and sealing them in quartz tubes. Its main product characteristics are:

1. High Electric Heating Conversion Rate

Carbon fiber heating elements are pure black materials. During the electric heating conversion process, most of the generated light is in the range of 2.5-13um, with very little visible light and a low luminous flux, resulting in an electric heating conversion rate of over 95%.

2. Rapid Heating and Low Thermal Lag

The high thermal conductivity of carbon fiber in the fiber direction gives it excellent thermal performance, with a thermal conductivity 1.6 times that of pure copper and 2.7 times that of aluminum. Therefore, as a heating element, it exhibits the excellent characteristics of rapid heating and low thermal lag.

3. High Thermal Radiation and Significant Energy-Saving Effect

The main heat transfer mode of carbon fiber as a heating tube during operation is thermal radiation. According to the Wien-Gretchen displacement law, if the wavelength of light emitted by the heating element is between 0.8-40um, the shorter the thermal radiation wavelength, the higher the surface temperature of the heating element. Over 90% of the wavelengths produced by carbon fiber heating elements are located in the infrared region of the thermal radiation wavelength of 2.5-13um, resulting in an electric heating conversion rate of over 90%. The energy-saving effect is very significant.

4. No Instantaneous Current Impact

Carbon fiber heating tubes do not require a ballast to ignite, and there is no pulse current impact during startup, simplifying the power supply and protection circuit, thus extending the lifespan of power supplies and related electrical appliances.

5. Far-Infrared Radiation Characteristics

The energy emission mode of carbon fiber heating elements is mainly far-infrared radiation, with a far-infrared radiation efficiency of over 70%. After being energized, carbon fiber heating elements radiate infrared heat that can heat materials, with an infrared radiation wavelength of 2.3-14um. This range of far-infrared rays is called the “light of life,” accounting for over 80% of the total wavelength.

6. Safe, Green, and Environmentally Friendly

After being energized, carbon fiber heating elements mainly produce far-infrared rays with very little visible light, no light pollution, and no eye or skin irritation. There is no ultraviolet radiation or harmful gas production, no high-frequency radiation (only far-infrared radiation), and no microwaves or electromagnetic waves. They also have the ability to absorb harmful light waves.

7. Usable in Special Working Environments

The heating wires of carbon fiber heating tubes are sealed within quartz tubes, allowing them to be used in special working environments such as high temperatures and corrosive environments. The outer tube of carbon fiber quartz heating tubes is made of quartz glass, which is an excellent acid-resistant material, being 30 times more acid-resistant than acid-resistant ceramics and over 100 times more acid-resistant than stainless steel.

Disadvantages of Quartz Carbon Fiber Heating Tubes

The main disadvantage is that the outer appearance is made of quartz tubes, making them relatively fragile compared to stainless steel heating tubes.
